Mary McDowell was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Polycom and named a member of Polycom’s board of directors in September 2016.
Mary brings to Polycom a strong background as a technology industry executive and has led global multi-billion dollar businesses in the mobile, consumer, and enterprise sectors. She has a proven track record for sustaining strong financial performance, leading scalable technology innovation, and creating winning product families.
Mary was an executive partner at Siris Capital Group, which acquired Polycom in 2016. She is a former Executive Vice President and General Manager at Nokia where she led the global P&L for their mobile phones division, their largest and most profitable business. She has also served as Nokia’s Chief Development Officer and as EVP & GM of their Enterprise Solutions. Previously, she held senior executive roles at Hewlett-Packard and Compaq Computer Corporation. In addition, Mary is on the boards of Autodesk, Inc. and UBM plc.
Mary holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Illinois Urbana College of Engineering. She is the recipient of the distinguished alumni award and is on the Board of Visitors for the UIUC College of Engineering.
